Microsoft Exchange is a mail server application that allows the campus community to exchange secure email, keep track of and easily communicate with contacts, and collaborate with one-another through calendaring applications such as Microsoft Outlook. Exchange also serves a core function in the University's Unified Communications infrastructure.
All staff have access to an Exchange account (This includes all University of Illinois graduate students, faculty, staff, and certain allied individuals are automatically eligible for an Exchange account.).
Coordinate your calendar with your contacts and email using Microsoft Outlook. Access your email, contacts, and calendar using any computer or browser-enabled device using the Outlook Web App (https://webmail.illinois.edu). Seamlessly integrate your contacts and calendar information into powerful Unified Communications tools such as Skype for Business. Mailboxes on the Exchange system have auto growing quotas that are calculated and adjusted nightly. The quotas are high enough that they should not be reached by any normal operations and are only in place as a safety measure to protect the system. Internal messages (sent from one Exchange user to another Exchange user) must be less than 100MB in size. External messages (sent to or from a different email system) must be less than 65MB in size.
There is no cost to obtain Outlook/Exchange calendaring.
Setting up your email account is part of the "on-boarding" process for new college employees. If your account wasn't set up when you came on board, have your department administrative assistant send an email to the address below requesting your account be set up. Or you can go to https://partnercomputing.illinois.edu/ and request an account.
